Superboy. The younger version of Superman, in his days as a teenaged hero in Smallville. During the 1945-1949 era his adventures are generally more innocent versions of what his adult self gets up to, with no costumed or exotic criminals or adventures to deal with. What we think of as the classic Superboy adventures took place in the 1950s, not the 1940s; Lana Lang wasn’t even introduced until 1950. Superboy appears in stories with titles like “A Modern Cave Man!” “The Adventure of Jaguar Boy,” and “Superboy–Super Cowboy!”

First Appearance: More Fun Comics #101 (DC), Jan-Feb 1945. 100+ appearances, 1945-1949+. Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
