Mary Marvel. Mary Batson is the twin sister of Billy Batson, a.k.a. Captain Marvel. Unfortunately, when their parents die, soon after the pair are born, they are separated by the wicked nurse of the rich Bromfields. Billy gets raised in an orphanage, while Mary becomes the daughter of the rich Bromfields. However, Billy and Mary meet years later and realize they are related. Billy, as Captain Marvel, prevents her kidnaping, then tells her who he really is. When Billy is caught off guard and gagged, Mary says the magic word, "Shazam," and gains the powers of Captain Marvel. She goes on to fight crimes as the costumed Mary Marvel. She has the grace of Selena, the strength of Hippolyta, the fleetness of Zephyrus, the beauty of Aurora, and the wisdom of Minerva. She is helped by Freckles, her friend from the country. She fights ordinary criminals, the Milkmen of Human Kindness, the Stone Men of the Moon, Svengolly and his mind-reading machine, rebellious robots, Leonardo de Pinchy, who uses black magic to bring his paintings to life, and the Georgia Sivana, the scientifically-inclined daughter of the Mad Scientist Sivana. She appears in stories with titles like “The End of the World,” “The Mermaid in Central Park,” and “The Revolt of the Plants.”
