Kirby, Kayo. Red “Kayo” Kirby fights his way up out of humble beginnings–he begins boxing as a way to pay for law school–to become a top prize fighter, slugging his opponents and criminals alike. He faces setbacks, like drugged water bottles leading him to lose his bouts and his reputation. He has nightmares, in which he boxes John L. Sullivan, Jim Corbett, and Bob Fitzsimmons (they all beat him). He faces criminals, everything from racketeers to crooked managers to bullying timbermen. And when war breaks out Kirby has to enlist. But Kirby is known as “kayo” for a reason, and he tramples all before him.

First Appearance: Fight Comics #1 (Fiction House), Jan 1940. 79 appearances, 1940-1952. Created by Will Eisner and George Tuska?
