Fu Chang. “Fu Chang, American university-educated Chinaman, makes his home in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Because of his devotion to the teachings of the Chinese gods and because he has sworn his life to aid the oppressed, Sing Po, a famous magician and direct descendant of Aladdin, upon his death had willed to Fu Chang a set of magic chessmen. These chessmen possess all the magic powers of Aladdin’s lamp and are responsible for Fu Chang’s spectacular solutions of great international mysteries.” He is assisted by his fiancee Tay Ming. Many of his enemies are Yellow Perils. In addition to his magic chessmen, Fu Chang is a skilled martial artist and detective. He appears in stories with titles like “The Tiger-Devil Cult,” “Ling Foy’s Warriors of Brass,” and “The Man-Eating Plants of Yen Fat Sing.”
