Blackie the Mystery Boy. “When mysterious floods ravage the Midwest, the Lynx appears and rescues a homeless boy.” Declaring that the boy, Phil, is “strong and brave,” the Lynx gives Phil a uniform, has him take an oath, and makes him his sidekick. Phil has the same powers of flight and low-level super-strength that the Lynx does. Together they fight ordinary criminals and Germans, but their arch-enemy is the Rook, a bulging-eyed science criminal who uses a hypno-ray on civilians and police. He appears in stories with titles like "The Joss," "The Nazi Takeover of Zenith," and "Stage Set for Murder."
