King, Sergeant Bill. Sergeant Bill King is a heroic British soldier. While active in Europe against the Germans, he is two-fisted, suicidally brave, and happy to gun down or blow up dozens of the enemy. While active on the homefront, protecting airplane factories or the Secretary of War, he is cunning in addition to brawling and brave. A number of his stories involve new inventions which he must keep out of German hands: synthetic rubber, pilotless planes/drones, high-explosive calmite, and so on. He appears in stories with titles like “The Kidnaped Inventor,” “Attack on the Secretary of War,” and “Adventure of the Pilotless Plane.”
