O’Brien, Banshee. Banshee O’Brien is a boy magician who is the apprentice of Ibis the Invincible. O’Brien is a tough kid Brooklynite who after rescuing a dying Arabian vizier is given a book containing the “secrets of the new magic.” Further, O’Brien is “descended from a long line of Irish mystics.” After Ibis discovers O’Brien he takes O’Brien in, teaching him, forcing him to do his homework, and overseeing experiments in Ibis’ “laboratory of magic.” In his first appearance he fights an urban hydra, and in his second appearance he and Ibis go on the trail of a missing leprechaun, only to find that the leprechaun is “organizing all King Oberon’s sprites...and we’re out for MONEY!”
