Yucca Kid. The Yucca Kid was created by Wayne Overholser and appeared in a number of stories in The Lone Ranger Magazine in 1937, beginning with “The Yucca Kid” (The Lone Ranger Magazine, July 1937).

The Yucca Kid and his sidekick Smoky Drew are a pair of wandering, do-gooding cowboys. The Kid is young, with pale blue eyes, while Smoky is older, tall, lean, with steely hair. The Kid has five notches on his gun and lives by Smoky’s code, “Never draw until you have to, and never kill unless it’s his life or yours.” The Kid looks impressive to others: “The contour of his mouth gave the impression that despite his youth, he had already ridden the blazing rims of hell.”
