Xue Rénguì. Xue Rénguì (614-683) was a Chinese general during the Tang Dynasty who was known for carrying out numerous successful campaigns. He appeared in a number of novels, including an anonymously written novel, Xue Rengui Zhong Dong, from circa 1738. He appeared in a cycle of stories in Mongolia in the 1920s and 1930s, collected together under titles like Yeke Tang ulus-un Siüwei li nu Iegün Liyoo-yi Tösidkegsn...debter. In these stories Xue Rénguì ventures farther afield than he did historically and has more colorful adventures, all in the service of the Taizong and Gaozong Emperors.
