Wren, Jeffrey. Jeffrey Wren was created by “G.T. Fleming-Roberts,” the pseudonym of George Thomas Roberts (Black Hood, Captain Zero, Diamondstone, Ghost (I)), and appeared in seven stories in Dime Detective from 1944 to 1946, beginning with “No Haunting Allowed” (Dime Detective, Apr. 1944).

Former vaudeville magician Jeffrey Wren operates a magic shop in Indianapolis and solves criminal cases in his spare time. His specialty is cases where the occult seems to be involved; in every such case Wren exposes the hoax. Wren is assisted by the “lean, bloodless-looking” Horace, and aids police detective Zoe Osbourn, whose beat is fake mediums and fortune-tellers.
