Wilson, Hammerlock. Hammerlock Wilson was created by Earl W. Scott (Phil Craleigh, Cameo Kirby) and appeared in six stories in All Star Detective Stories and Clues Detective in 1932 and 1933, beginning with “Hammerlock Wilson, Fighting Dick” (All Star Detective Stories, Jan. 1932).
James “Hammerlock” Wilson is “the Fighting Dick,” a retired professional wrestler and policeman who runs a private detective agency (he is a “personal agent”). He is more given to violence than detection to solve crimes. He is hard-boiled: “Me, a lone wolf agent, with enemies and friends on both sides of the law, two dukes and a gat for company, and a freckled mug for a passport.”
