Whitney, Whit. Whit Whitney was created by David Dodge and appeared in four novels from 1941 to 1949, beginning with Death and Taxes.
James “Whit” Whitney is a San Francisco accountant and tax consultant who becomes an amateur detective to solve the murder of his partner. He joins up with former girlfriend Kitty Macleod and begins solving crimes. By the last novel Whitney has become competent at detection, tough with his fists, and has married Macleod.
