White, Sheriff George. Sheriff George White was created by M.M. Mannion and appeared in Here Lies Blood (1942) and Murder on the Program (1944).

George White is the sheriff of San Jose County in California. “Broad-shouldered and deep-chested originally, he had added a bountiful padding as the years went by, and a noble paunch...but the jawbone was square beneath the ruddy jowl overhanging his collar, and the eyes...held the unworried assurance of authority.” He speaks with a deep, slow drawl, and is imperturbable.
