West, Pinklin. Pinklin West was created by the pseudonymous “Thorne Miller” and appeared in seven stories in Detective Story Magazine from 1921 to 1924, beginning with “Pinklin West and the Incident of the Jealous Husband” (Detective Story Magazine, Sept. 24, 1921).

Pinklin West is a Great Detective. West is a criminologist of the upper classes, more than slightly similar to Craig Kennedy. He works out of his apartment in Chicago, assisted by his secretary, the excitable young dolt Thorne Miller. West looks mild, is always calm and has washed-out blue eyes. Police Inspector Landers’ job in the stories is to be astounded by the revelations of West, who is well-known to the police and admired by them.
