Ware, Anthony. Anthony Ware was created by “Susan Wells,” the pseudonym of Doris Siegel, and appeared in four novels from 1939 to 1947, beginning with Murder is not Enough.
Tony Ware is a wealthy amateur detective. He begins solving crimes when murder is committed on his yacht, and he continues to stumble upon situations involving murder, and is good enough at solving them that he always gets his man or woman. He is “a young giant with sun-bleached hair, and gray eyes in a strong sun-leathered face,” with a certain amount of magnetism which draws people’s eyes to him.
