Wade. Wade was created by Gwen Bristow and Bruce Manning and appeared in Gutenberg Murders (1931) and Mardi Gras Murders (1932).

Wade is the crime-solving star reporter for the New Orleans Morning Creole. He is “lean and lank, and so ill-made that he looked as if the Creator had delegated to a clumsy apprentice the task of putting him together.” He is clever and is knowledgeable about both New Orleans’ high society and its underworld. His partner is Wiggins, the Morning Creole’s crime photographer.
