Vivanti, Dr. Paul. Dr. Paul Vivanti was created by Sydney Horler (Brett Carstairs, Bunny Chipstead, H. Emp, Brian Fordinghame, Rex Hartley, Martin Huish, Gerald Lissendale, Justin March, George Meatyard, Nighthawk, Sebastian Quin, Tiger Standish, Baron Veseloffsky) and appeared in a number of stories and six novels and short story collections from 1925 to 1945, beginning with Mystery of Number One.
Dr. Paul Vivanti is the head of a large gang of criminals. He had not always been so, however. He had a successful career as a nerve specialist, with offices on Harley Street, in London, before turning to crime. But once he decided to enrich himself through crime he became as efficient at that as he had been at medicine, and became a very successful dealer in drugs and stolen property. He is pursued by Sir Brian Fordinghame, the head of a section in British Intelligence.
