Vertue, Inspector. Inspector Vertue was created by Bernard Capes (Gilead Balm) and appeared in a number of stories in The London Magazine in 1906 and 1907.

Inspector Vertue is an Inspector for Scotland Yard whose cases have unusual scientific aspects. One crime features radium used to create an instant combustion, and another crime involves a new chemical which makes horses run exceptionally fast but burns them out and ages them prematurely.
