Verrill, A. Hyatt. A. Hyatt Verrill was created by A. Hyatt Verrill (Boy Adventurers, Deep Sea Hunters, Radio Detectives) and appeared in three stories in Amazing Stories from 1928 to 1930, beginning with “The World of the Giant Ants” (Amazing Stories Quarterly, Fall 1928).

A. Hyatt Verrill is the fictional stand-in for the author, and in these stories, set in the Andes and in Ecuador, Verrill explores ruins in the jungle and discovers giant, aggressive, intelligent ants; Verrill and a friend find a strange mineral in which can be seen a microscopic world of “Manabi Indians;” and Verrill transfers the Manabis from their world to Earth.
