Venables, Charles. Charles Venables was created by C. St. John Sprigg and appeared in four novels from 1933 to 1935, beginning with Crime in Kensington.
Charles Venables is a reporter and gossip columnist for the Daily Mercury who solves crimes. Venabels is a crafty man who plays up his “colorless” good looks, his stutter, and his monocle to give himself a better advantage on the job and in solving crimes. He assists Scotland Yard Inspector Bernard Bray.
