Van Heeren, Peter. Peter van Heeren was created by the Norwegian author Alf B. Bryn and appeared in four novels from 1924 to 1938, beginning with Peter van Heeren tar Skeen i den Anden Haan.

Peter van Heeren is a Norwegian police detective located in a modern, efficient Oslo. He solves crimes committed by retrogressive elements of society: stock market swindlers, socialists, Bolsheviks, traitors, and corrupt politicians, especially the recurring villain Hilmer, the Chancellor of Justice. Van Heeren also deals with Soviet attempts to manipulate an international financial group. (He ends up stealing the Tsar’s crown jewels). Van Heeren has an aristocratic attitude and will kill criminals who the police are unable to convict.
