Valeska. Valeska was created by Elizabeth Y. Miller and appeared in “The Matter of the Savoy Thefts” (The London Magazine, Oct/Nov 1908) and “The Murder of Lawrence Drummond” (The London Magazine, Dec 1908/Jan 1909).

Valeska is an American woman whose Russian husband has just abandoned her. Valeska returns to London, poor and alone, but determined to make something of herself, and decides to become a private detective as a way to make money. She solves crimes among the upper classes.
