Turner, Doc. Doc Turner was created by Arthur Leo Zagat (Dr. Bain, Tiger Carlin, Dikar, Ford Duane, Jed, Ann Marsh, Tom, Dick & Harry) and appeared in seventy stories in The Spider from 1934 to 1942, beginning with “Deadlock” (The Spider, Apr. 1934).

Dr. Andrew Turner is the pharmacist on Morris Street, a poor neighborhood full of immigrants. The natives of Morris Street are threatened by a series of bizarre crimes and strange criminals, and it is up to Turner and mechanic Jack Ransom to solve the crimes and protect the simple men and women of Morris Street, since the police will not. Turner is old, but is still fast on his feet and is both clever and intelligent. When physical violence is needed, Ransom can be depended upon to deal it.
