Trostler, Dagobert. Dagobert Trostler was created by “Balduin Groller,” the pseudonym of the Austrian author Adalbert Goldscheider, and appeared in eighteen stories, four novellas, and a short story collection from 1890 to 1914.

Dagobert Trostler is a Great Detective. Trostler has many of the attributes of Sherlock Holmes, but is much more human (he swears, he loses his temper) and is likable, even lively and gay. Trostler is an independently wealthy bachelor in his mid-fifties who solves crimes among the Viennese bourgeois and Austro-Hungarian nobility as an amateur detective.
