Treadgold, Inspector. Inspector Treadgold was created by Anthony Weymouth and appeared in seven novels from 1935 to 1941, beginning with Frozen Death.

Inspector Treadgold of Scotland Yard is “small, quick in the uptake, and liable to assume that his companions can reason as speedily as he can.” He is educated, erudite, quotes classics in Latin and often drags in the classics and ancient history by way of comparison. He is cheerful and has a “sharp, ferret-like nose.”
