Tôgô Fujio. Tôgô Fujio was created by the Japanese author Morishita Uson and appeared in five short stories in Shônen Kurabu in 1934, beginning with “Denki Suirai Jiken” (Shônen Kurabu, 1934); the stories were collected in Nazo no Angô (1934).

Tôgô works part-time for the Metropolitan Police Department in Tokyo and is a full-time amateur detective, who uses the latest scientific equipment and motorcycles and planes to catch his enemies. Many of his opponents are foreign spies—White Perils, especially—who are trying to discover the secrets of the Japanese military. Tôgô is especially good at foreign languages, a skill he puts to use in cracking codes.
