Tigre. Tigre was created by Frank Desmond and appeared in a number of stories in Triumph from 1936 to 1937, beginning with “The Bewitched Spears” (Triumph, Aug. 29, 1936).

Tigre is a Great Dane who accompanies his master into Africa. Tigre’s master is Deputy-Commissioner Jim Stewart, an Africa Hand in charge of enforcing the peace in the “Central West Africa” region, and Stewart needs all the help he can get, what with all the wicked and rebellious native tribes and all. Luckily, Tigre is surprisingly intelligent, perhaps more so than Stewart, and has a supernatural ability to sniff out evil.
