Submarine Service. The Submarine Service was created by Gilbert Hackforth-Jones and appeared in seventeen short stories and eight novels and short story collections from 1940 to 1952, beginning with Submarine Flotilla.
The Submarine Service is the branch of the Royal Navy dealing with enemy submarines, whether German (during World War Two) or Russian (after the war ends). Typical among their ranks are the brave men of the H.M.S. Steadfast, a submarine manned by a brave crew led by Captain “Josh” Parker and whose standout is “Millie,” the young, plucky Earl of Millington. The Submarine Service endures temporary setbacks but never any serious defeats in its glorious march across the seas. God bless the Queen!
