Stern, Stanton. Stanton Stern was created by “Jack Maxwell,” the pseudonym of Ernest McKeag (Catch-‘em-Alive Carr, Clipper Craig, Cocksure Kelly, Nick Norton, Malcolm Swift), and appeared in a number of stories in Triumph in 1934 beginning with “The Knife Warning” (Triumph, June 30, 1934).

Stanton Stern is a high official in the British government, stationed in Shanghai. “Not another living white man knew China and the Chinese as Stanton Stern did.” Naturally, this makes Stern the ideal man to oppose the Yellow Peril mandarin Ah Fang and to help defeat any Chinese attempt to rebel against British interference in the domestic affairs of China.
