Steele, Argus. Argus Steele was created by Babs Lee and appeared in A Model is Murdered (1942), Passport to Oblivion (1943), and Measured for Murder (1944).

Argus Steele is a private detective who has retired to write detective novels with titles like The Case of the Creeping Cockroach. He is tall, handsome, well-dressed, a ladies’ man, a hard-drinking club-hopper, wry, and observant–more than one person calls him “argus-eyed.”
