Starr, Nick. Nick Starr appeared in a number of stories in The Surprise in 1933, beginning with “While Flames Roared” (The Surprise, Aug. 19, 1933).

Nick Starr is a brave young firefighter at the Harrinton Street Firestation in London. Starr is known as “the Fire King,” a title his “dash and pluck had earned him.” He fights arsonists, run-of-the-mill criminals, and eccentric Mad Scientists.
