Starr, Colin. Colin Starr was created by Rufus King (Reginald de Puyster, Lieutenant Valcour) and appeared in thirteen stories in Redbook Magazine from 1939 to 1942, beginning with “The Case of the Prodigal Bridegroom” (Redbook Magazine, Nov. 1939); five of the stories were collected in Diagnosis: Murder (1941).
Colin Starr is a medical doctor in the small town of Laurel Falls, Ohio. Starr is a gentle and kindly man with a “heart as big as Lincoln’s,” but he is also charismatic, energetic, knowledgeable in medicine and armed with considerable deductive abilities, and he puts all of these features to use in solving crimes among the wealthy of Laurel Falls.
