Square Dollar Boys. The Square Dollar Boys were created by H. Irving Hancock (Dave Darrin, Li Shoon, Frank Manley, Motor Boat Club, Dick Prescott, Tom Reade, Uncle Sam’s Boys) and appeared in the three-book “Square Dollar Boys” series, beginning with The Square Dollar Boys Wake Up, or, Fighting the Trolley Franchise Steal (1912) and concluding with The Square Dollar Boys Still Hunt, or, Breaking a Twentieth Century Mississippi Bubble (1912).
The Square Dollar Boys are good working boys who keep running up against corrupt businessmen, whether working the trolleys, trying to buy land, or in fighting against bank-backed land speculators. But in the end good triumphs over evil and the Square Dollar Boys defeat the wicked businessmen.
