Spears, Simon. Simon Spears was created by Val Gielgud (Antony Havilland) and appeared in four novels from 1934 to 1940, beginning with Death at Broadcasting House.

Simon Spears is a Detective-Inspector for Scotland Yard. He is a lean young man, often in a dark blue serge suit and bowler hat. He is a polite, persistent, careful detective, and while he assumes a deferential attitude towards the upper classes it is often only an act.
