Spanish Clerk. The Spanish Clerk was created by the Spanish author Luis de Oteyza (Spanish Archaeologist) and appeared in El Diablo Blanco (1928).

The Spanish Clerk is a meek, ordinary clerk for a dry-goods concern who is sent to China to find the location of a missing member of the firm. One thing leads to another, and suddenly the Clerk is killing friends and enemies alike on his way up to becoming a warlord. Eventually the Clerk tires of the bloodshed and returns home.
