Spanish Archaeologist. The Spanish Archaeologist was created by the Spanish author Luis de Oteyza (Spanish Clerk) and appeared in El Tesoro de Cuauhtemoc (1930).

The Spanish Archaeologist discovers, on an aging parchment map, the location of the hidden treasure of Cuauhtemoc, the last Aztec ruler of Tenochtitlan. The Archaeologist and his lover, also an archaeologist, go in search of this treasure, and find a group of Lost Race Maya [sic] guarding the treasure. Human sacrifice, gun battles with bloodthirsty Maya mobs, and other such adventures follow.
