Soska, Savanyu. Savanyu Soska (?-?) was a Magyar bandit in the Carpathian mountains in the late 19th and early 20th century. He was known for ransoming wealthy travelers and sending them home minus their ears, fingers, or hands if no ransom was forthcoming. During his lifetime and into the 1930s he was the subject of a series of Hungarian and later German Celebrity Pulp dime novels.
The fictional Savanyu Soska is portrayed as a romantic Gentleman Bandit who robs from the rich, gives to the poor, and metes out justice impartially.
