Sokratesco, Kyra. Kyra Sokratesco was created by Gilbert Frankau (Giuseppe Cigarini, Marcus Orlando) and appeared in three stories from 1928 to 1937, beginning with “Who Killed Castelvetri?” (The Strand, Mar. 1928).

Kyra Sokratesco is the Romanian “Character-Reading Detective,” a shrewd, albeit over-imaginative, amateur detective. Despite not always being successful Sokratesco is consulted and respected by the Chief of the Security Police of Toulon (Sokratesco lives in the Côte des Maures, west of the French Riviera).
