Smith, Tiberius. Tiberius Smith was created by Hugh Pendexter (Bureau of Abnormal Litigation, Jeff Fanchon) and appeared in nine stories in a variety of magazines in 1905 and 1906, beginning with “The Baseball God” (Everybody’s Magazine, Jan. 1905); the stories were collected in Tiberius Smith, as Chronicled by his Right-Hand Man Billy Campbell (1907).

Tiberius Smith and his friend Billy Campbell are curiosity collectors for a circus, and in that role they travel the world, “busily picking up here and there a cannibal, or a sacred goat, and a variety of other truck for the circus,” including an inquisitive tribe of poker-playing Inuits.
