Smith, Necessary. Necessary Smith was created by Ken Crossen (Mortimer Death, Green Lama, Chin Kwang Kham) and appeared in The Case of the Curious Heel (1944) and The Case of the Phantom Fingerprints (1945).

Necessary Smith is a private detective in New York City. He teams up with his friend Jason Jones, a detective for the N.Y.P.D., to solve murder cases in the city.
