Smith, Mustard. Mustard Smith appeared in a number of stories in The Skipper (U.K.) from 1934 to 1941, beginning with “Here Comes Mustard Smith!” (The Skipper (U.K.) May 26, 1934).

Mustard Smith is a burly former boxer (heavyweight champion) and All-England football and cricket player who takes up a post at Marbury College, in rural Binkerton, as an assistant school master. He soon gets his students in line and develops a rivalry with the unpopular second master, Mr. Peabody. Eventually Smith moves to New York and begins fighting crime, including a masked master criminal known as The Spider.
