Smith, Jehannum. Jehannum Smith was created by Gordon MacCreagh (Doctor Muncing) and appeared in five stories in Argosy in 1919 and 1920, beginning with “’Jehannum’ Smith” (Argosy and Railroad Men’s Magazine, Apr. 5, 1919).

Jehannum Smith is a two-fisted, square-jawed, brawling British adventurer, a legend among members of the Indian residencies, who has the usual sorts of British-adventurer-in-India adventures: tigers, Thugs, and “savage” natives.
