Small, Ivor. Ivor Small was created by “James Duncan,” the pseudonym of Arthur Pincus (The Parson), and appeared in three stories in Black Mask in 1934 and 1935, beginning with “Ice and Snow” (Black Mask, Feb. 1934).

Ivor Small is a “stout detective who appears slow to move and slow to anger, but when once aroused is a crafty Behemoth in action.” He is “fat without being fat enough to gain a livelihood as a professional fat man.”
