Slick the Sleuth. Slick the Sleuth appeared in twenty stories in The Buzzer in 1937 and 1938, beginning with “Slick the Sleuth” (The Buzzer, Oct. 16, 1937).

Slick the Sleuth is an Englishman of the upper classes who begins solving crimes in the contemporary American Southwest. He wears a monocle (and so is sometimes called the “Monocled ‘Tec”) and works from a dude ranch (and so is sometimes called “the Dude ‘Tec”). He is active on both sides of the Rio Grande. Some of his cases have fantastic overtones, as with the “Living Skeleton” and the “Dragon of Loch Eyre.”
