Sky Pirate. The Sky Pirate was created by Garrett Serviss (Edmond Stonewall, Cosmo Versal) and appeared in “The Sky Pirate” (The Scrap Book, Apr-Sept 1909).

In the future of the 1930s air travel is common. Unfortunately, so too are air criminals, and the worst of them is the vicious Captain Alfonso Payton, better known as the Sky Pirate, whose air yacht, the Chameleon, is a terror. Payton manages to fool a silly young heiress into stepping on to the Chameleon, at which point he holds her for a $10 million dollars ransom. The police set a trap for him, but fail to catch him. The Treasury Department sics its best agent, John Allan, on to Payton, and chases, hostage-taking, and shoot-outs follow, with Allan eventually disintegrating Payton.
