Singh, Ananda. Ananda Singh was created by the Indian author Arani Kuppuswami Mudaliyar (Patmacani) and appeared in a number of novels from at least 1914 to at least 1922, possibly beginning with Thinakarasundari.

Ananda Singh is a Great Detective modeled on Sherlock Holmes. An Indian, Singh lives in Madras and is Holmesian in nearly every regard save ethnicity. His Watson is Dr. Viswanathan, his Moriarty is Prof. Maarappan, and the Lupin he comes into conflict with, who is based on Arsène Lupin, is Arasur Lakshmanan.
