Silver Kid. The Silver Kid was created by T.W. Ford (Hunt Canning, Black Hawk Lee, Two-Shot Billy Murtol) and appeared in sixty-three stories in a number of different pulps from 1935 to 1950, beginning with “The Sign of the Silver Kid” (Wild West Weekly, Mar. 16, 1935).

The Silver Kid is a wandering cowboy adventurer in the years after the Civil War. He is Solo Strant, and he always wears all black, although his guns have silver handles. At his throat he wears a silver skull, and his spurs are made from Mexican silver dollars. He rides a paint horse and is accompanied by his brother Hondo, an expert with the knife.
