Seven Monks. The Seven Monks were created by the Chinese author Tang Yunchuan and appeared in Qi Jian Shisan Xia (1897), which had at least seven unauthorized sequels by other authors through at least 1910.

The Seven Monks are Nüxia/Wüxia. Centuries ago, in China, the Emperor is weak and timid and controlled by corrupt, evil men. The Seven Monks are sent by their Master to aid the Emperor in defeating his enemies, whether they are kings with designs on the throne, evil viziers, wicked martial arts experts, or simply bandit armies.
