Segrove, James. James Segrove was created by “Roy Vickers,” the pseudonym of William Edward Vickers (Department of Dead Ends, Fidelity Dove, Dixon Hawke, Sefton Kyle, Inspector J. Rason), and appeared in The Vengeance of Henry Jerroman (1923), Ishmael’s Wife (1924), and Four Past Four (1925).
James Segrove is an English private detective. He is large and matter-of-factly competent, with an open glance and a subtly intense awareness. He seems friendly enough, but he will shoot and kill an unarmed criminal if the criminal seems to reach for a gun.
