Scott, Bill. Bill Scott was created by Raoul Whitfield (Ben Breed, Dion Davies, Donald Free, Jo Gar, Gary Greer, Ben Jardinn, Buck KentCaptain MacLeod, Mel Ourney, Chuck Reddington, Alan van Cleve) and appeared in ten stories in Complete Story Magazine and Black Mask from 1925 to 1926, beginning with “Scotty Flies South” (Complete Story Magazine, Aug. 25, 1925).

Bill Scott is a hard-boiled pilot who with Bing Russell, his equally hard-boiled mechanic, flies a battered J.H.6 along the border between the United States and Mexico. They try to earn money by hiring the plane out for joy rides, but wouldn’t you know, there seem to be a surfeit of evil pilots, men running illegal Chinese immigrants from Mexico to the United States, and other scoundrels that need seeing to.
